About Shelburne Ship Repair

BACKGROUND

Originally established as a naval dockyard, as HMCS Shelburne, in the 1940’s, the dockyard was decommissioned in 1967 and transitioned to a commercial yard as Shelburne Marine.

In 1999, Irving Shipbuilding Inc (ISI) leased the facility from the Province, and continued to operate under the lease until 2010 as Shelburne Ship Repair , carrying out all kinds of ship repair from large fishing vessels and commercial vessels to Canadian Coastguard (CCG) and the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) vessels.

2010 brought new life to SSR, when ISI bought the facility from the Province and injected much needed money into the facility, with the main upgrade being a new Marine Railway, capable of hauling 4000mT.

CURRENT

The yard remained with ISI until March 2022, when it was sold to Mersey Seafoods, who had also acquired the Steel & Engine Products (Stenpro) yard in Liverpool from ISI a number of years earlier.

The yard was established as a successful standalone company under the name Shelburne Ship Repair Limited and continues to offer superior work in it’s first-class facilities.
